After painting the first fish, I decided it would be interesting to paint the same image in several different apps to give me a basis for comparison. For this one, I am back to Art Rage, using the oil paint. There are lots of other brushes and media in the app, but the ability to build texture seemed to fit the scaly nature of a fish. Or maybe I just like feeling like I am playing with oil, without all the worry about toxicity and my cat walking through the palette.

[FYI, it is really ugly when cats walk through oil paint, they are super sensitive to it. Think BigFoot Kitty. Mad, uncomfortable, running around uncontrollably, spreading it on everything.]

Here’s another one where I start to blend media that can’t be blended well in real life. Things like marker over oil paint.

  1. I love it being able to virtually blend the physically unblendable.

These are really fun. Especially like the first one with the sort-of fish-egg scales.
