The rectangle in the background of this piece is a gelatin monoprint. I wrote a post about how this is done a while back, Gelatin Printing. I scratched the tree over the print with a bamboo skewer, then drew into and around the printed area with colored pencil.
These images were painted on a digital tablet in a program called Painter. These are giclee prints, which are a high quality digtial print on art paper. These are artist’s proofs, which for a digital image are as close as you get to originals.
